Find out more about the Summer Reading Challenge in libraries that starts on Saturday 13 July 2019 - Only 4 weeks to go!
- 11 June 2019
Throughout the Challenge library staff and young volunteers support the children, helping them to discover new authors and illustrators and to explore a wide range of different types of books and ways of reading.
As the national curriculum for English aims to ensure that pupils develop the habit of reading widely and often for both pleasure and information the Summer Reading Challenge is a great way to reinforce this.
The Summer Reading Challenge combines FREE access to books with fun, creative activities in the library during the summer holidays.
If you would like to promote this years challenge with the children at your school, more information is available on the Derbyshire libraries and Summer Reading Challenge websites.
