World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) runs from 18 to 24 November each year.

The Antibiotic Guardian team at Public Health England has developed the Antibiotic Guardian Schools Ambassadors Programme. This is designed to connect public health and healthcare professionals with local schools, bringing together Health and Social Care, to deliver teaching on infection control, hygiene and preventing antimicrobial resistance. Please see the attached letter for further details.

For a central repository of material, including newsletters, appropriate to Primary and Secondary Schools and to register, schools can visit Antibiotic Guardian Schools.

If you are interested in planning a lesson on AMR, you can contact the team, email: ddccg.meds.man@nhs.net with the title Antibiotic Guardian Schools Programme, which will help direct to the appropriate person. Schools will then be sent the required toolkit to support the lesson.
