All Derbyshire nurseries (school and private), pre-schools and childminders are eligible for a library card to borrow books from their local library to use and share with the children in their setting. The library card entitles the setting to borrow 24 books at a time for 6 weeks.

Derbyshire library service has a great range of picture books and board books, with regular deliveries of new titles.

If you work at a setting or are a childminder, please consider using our free service. Children will benefit from:

  • access to an increased range and variety of quality books and stories
  • support in reaching the early years goals and their school readiness skills
  • regular access to great books to nurture their life-long love of books and stories
A great start to their reading journeys of learning to read, and reading for pleasure.
