Derbyshire libraries would like to invite all your pupils to take part in this year’s Reading Agency Summer Reading Challenge “Ready, Set, Read!"

Further information is available from the Derbyshire County Council website.

This year’s Summer reading challenge is all about games and sports. Children will join a fictional team (and their animal mascots) as they use their skills to weave their way through a summer obstacle course. Developed in collaboration with the Youth Sport Trust, the 2023 Summer reading challenge will celebrate play and participation, encouraging children to engage in games and sports in any way that best suits them. Ready, Set, Read! will showcase how reading can be active and engaged, and can itself involve teamwork and community.

As ever Derbyshire libraries hope as many of your students as possible will want to join the challenge which helps support their reading during the  Summer Holidays. Those completing the challenge will receive a medal and certificate and Derbyshire libraries would encourage teachers to invite children to bring theses into school in September.

Resources for schools (including a presentation for assemblies) are available from the School Zone section of the Summer Reading Challenge website.

If schools would like any further information please contact the Libraries team via email or speak to your local library.
