The Carers Trust has published a guide which provides teachers and non-school staff in secondary and primary schools with a resource to help make the identification and support of young carers in schools as easy as possible.

The Trust has carried out a survey which found 37% of young carers said they felt stressed because of caring for someone, 23% said they felt their caring role had stopped them making friends on at least one occasion and only 44% said they felt they got enough help with their emotions and feelings.

Together with the programme's free webinars, videos, case studies and the termly e-Newsletter, the step-by-step guide will help schools achieve the Young Carers in Schools Award. To start working towards an award, please see the Trusts' 5 key actions to getting involved.

For anyone who works with carers, more information and access to a wide range of resources can be found on the Carers Trust website.
