Due to the changes to the SEN legislation being brought in by the government from 1 September 2014 under the Children and Families Act 2014, there will shortly be a new SEN Code of Practice in force.
In future, statements of SEN will be replaced by an education health and care (EHC) plan. Existing statements will be converted to an EHC plan over the next three years with the process being complete by April 2018.
As a consequence of these legislative changes the former SEN toolkit is to be replaced by the EHC recording system. This contains the forms required to request an EHC needs assessment (statutory assessment) from 1 September 2014, together with guidance on how requests are considered, tariffs for resourcing and a new EHC statutory annual review form. Further guidance will be added to the appendices in due course.
All existing statements should be managed as they are under the present system and that the previous SEN code of practice remains in force until April 2018 with regard to statements.
A conversion timetable from statements to EHC plans will be published shortly.
If you have any comments or concerns please contact the SEN caseworker for your school (contact details will be on any correspondence from the SEN admin team), your local inclusion officer (LIO) or email: sen.admin@derbyshire.gov.uk
Your feedback on the EHC recording system will be gratefully received so that adjustments and refinements can be made and any errors or problems corrected.
If you wish to leave feedback please email: sen.admin@derbyshire.gov.uk
