Person centred planning is a set of approaches designed to assist someone to plan their life and support.

PCA has grown in both profile and usage across Derbyshire's children's services in recent years, especially since the introduction of the stronger families and safer children way of working and the introduction of the special educational needs and disability (SEND) code of practice where person centred approaches are at the very heart of these major reform programmes.

This information is designed to make the sharing of good practice, both inside and outside of our council, easy via the Derbyshire Local Offer. It gives access to person centred tools that help capture and record the 'child's voice', shares work sheets to aid one to one working and tools that can be used to construct booklets that tell a child or young person's story.

It is aimed at, and made available to, children, young people and their families for them to use as well as for school staff, charities or any other staff who work with children and young people.

It helps empower children, young people and their families to put their wishes and feelings 'out there', equip staff with the tools needed to do person centred approaches in their job and is a means of sharing good practice across our services to staff, children, young people and the families they serve.
