The purpose of this event is to provide young people with the opportunity to participate in the consultation regarding the proposed changes to Derbyshire Library Service.

Times: 10:30am to 12:30pm. 

It is advised to arrive at 10am for a 10:30am start to the forum.

Aims and objectives

The sessions aim to:

  • raise awareness of the proposed changes to Library Services
  • give young people the opportunity to have an impact on what happens in their local services and communities
  • provide a chance for young people to make suggestions which will be taken into account when planning future changes
  • give young people insight into the local government decision-making process
  • enable the Library Service to find out more about how young people view and use our services
  • provide an opportunity to raise young peoples awareness of what Libraries can offer
  • highlight some of the books and resources currently available for young people
  • promote reading for pleasure and enjoyment.

The event will be held against a backdrop of books suitable for young people to help raise awareness of the variety of authors and titles available and there will be an opportunity for young people to find out more about our services and to join if they are interested.

Refreshments will be provided, and travel vouchers will be offered to help cover the cost of bringing groups.
