Derbyshire libraries invite all pupils to take part in this year's Reading Agency Summer Reading Challenge, 'Story Garden'.

Date(s)
5 July - 6 September 2025
Description

This year’s 'Story Garden' theme encourages children and families to get out in nature and share stories and imagination about the great outdoors.

As well as the challenge, Derbyshire libraries will be running many free activities to complement this year’s theme. Please ask at your local library or visit the DCC website for more information. You can also email Ask.library@derbyshire.gov.uk.

As ever, we hope as many of your pupils as possible will join the challenge, which helps support their reading during the summer holidays. Those completing the challenge will receive a medal and certificate, and we would encourage teachers to invite children to bring these into school in September.

Find out more about the Summer Reading Challenge on the Reading Agency website. You can download an assembly presentation to help promote 'Story Garden' to your pupils, and many other resources linked to the challenge.

If schools would like any further information, please contact Ask.library@derbyshire.gov.uk or your local library.

Derbyshire libraries wish you all a very happy summer and look forward to welcoming the children to our libraries, encouraging them to get outdoors and enjoy 'Story Garden'!
