The Department for Education (DfE) has made two documents available to support schools in responding to the results of the Year 1 phonics screening check.
The phonics screening check - responding to the results has been published by the DfE.
Communicating phonics is a guide to support teachers delivering and interpreting the phonics screening check for children with speech, language and communication needs. This document was originally published by the Communication Trust. Currently, the Communication Trust’s documents are in the process of being transferred to the I CAN website and Communicating Phonics has not yet been transferred. Interventions for Literacy is based on Professor Greg Brooks' 2007 edition of 'What works for pupils with literacy difficulties?'. The website has a user-friendly format which may help schools to identify the most appropriate interventions to meet their pupils' needs.
