A consultation is being held on proposed updates to the home to school travel policies for eligible school children aged five to 16, Post 16 learners and students with special educational needs and disabilities.

These updates follow new government guidance and aim to make the policies more inclusive and support greater independence.

A public drop-in event is being held for anyone to attend, to find out more about the proposals, and officers will be on hand to explain the proposals and help people to complete the survey.

Location: County Hall, Smedley Street, Matlock, DE4 3AG

Date and time: 10 February 2026 – 10am to 2pm.

If you can’t attend in person, you can request a 20‑minute virtual appointment by emailing CS.HTSTConsultation@derbyshire.gov.uk in advance.

The questionnaire can be completed online and the consultation can be found on the Derbyshire County Council website. For help completing the questionnaire online, or to request a paper copy, please contact the Admissions & Transport team via:

The team want to hear from as many people as possible about the proposals so they'd appreciate your support to spread the word among your school community to encourage parents, carers, pupils and teachers to take part.

This consultation closes 22 February 2026.
