Derbyshire Libraries would like to invite all your pupils to take part in this year’s Reading Agency Summer Reading Challenge “Marvellous Makers!"

The challenge begins on Saturday 6 July 2024 and ends on Saturday 7 September 2024 .

This year’s Summer Reading Challenge is all about being creative. Developed in partnership with Create, a leading charity bringing the creative arts to those who need it most, this year’s challenge aims to fire up children’s imaginations and unleash storytelling and creativity through the power of reading.

As well as the challenge, Derbyshire Libraries will be running many free activities to complement this year’s theme. For further information, please ask at your local library or visit the Derbyshire County Council website for more information. Alternatively, you can contact the Derbyshire Libraries team via email;

Email: ask.library@derbyshire.gov.uk

As ever, it is hoped as many of your students as possible will want to join the challenge which helps support their reading during the Summer holidays. Those completing the challenge will receive a medal and certificate and we would encourage teachers to invite children to bring these into school in September.

A presentation is available to download from the Reading Agency website, which can be used in assemblies or the classroom to inform children about the challenge. If you would like any further information please contact the Derbyshire Libraries team via email: Ask.library@derbyshire.gov.uk, or contact your local library.

Derbyshire Libraries team wishes you all a very happy Summer and look forward to welcoming the children to become “Marvellous Makers”.
